The Selby

So some of you may remember my post of books I just really wanted. Well, right after writing it I purchased this book

Actually, i accidently purchased two. But was able to sell the second one to a friend with no persuading since its such an awesome book! Now I keep it right by my couch because everyone that comes over interestingly picks it up and flips through it....

" Todd Selby is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator. His project The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist's eye for detail." Basically the book is photographs of the insides of peoples homes....people with really cool stuff and neat/interesting houses. It also has funny little surveys filled out by each person with just random questions. The book is beautifully done and each page has so much to look at and be inspired by!

Before it became a book it was and still is a blog....theselby.com. Here are some of what you will find upon visiting the site!

this one just makes me wish that i had this house, garden, dog, life, etc.....(click on it and you will see more)

wow wow wow

I am so enthralled by this today. I have a whole list of things to do and I just sit here all day watching video after video of these AMAZING Take-Away Shows. oh my goodness gracious. Basically its all of my favourite bands doing these ad-hoc videos in Paris with this guy named Vincent Moon on a blog site called La Blogotheque. They just start walking around Paris singing and playing with whatever types of instruments they can carry with them, find or create out of random objects. This is so great because it really proves what amazing musicians they are. Here are some of my favourites. But you should really book some time off in your calendar, take a few days off of work and put your phone off the hook because once you start watching them you find more and more bands you like and its hard to stop and they are all so cool!!! You should really go to the actual blog though because the guy gives a whole write-up about the experience and how each take away show came about and what the band was like to work with. If you click on the name of the band that I've written below it will lead you directly to the blog of that band plus more videos of that band on the blog. Thank you Michael for showing this to me!!

India inspired

Wow yesterday was just full of cool things inspired by this far away land...

First was meeting Theresa James who came to my school to talk about her line she had just shown at Vancouver Fashion week. She has some amazing stuff inspired by a trip she took to India. Here are my favourites....oh and her line is called Retarded Velvet.

Then I went to see Miike Snow in concert which was not inspired by India that I know of but was a really fun show. The band came out wearing white masks which I found incredibly freaky, especially his half mask with handlebar mustache underneath...yikes... but it was off by the time he played Animal so I could thoroughly enjoy myself without the risk of having nightmares.

I then came home to find 2 great things in my mail box. 1. my tax return! yay money! and 2. The May issue of House and Home magazine! which is where I found the second India inspired very cool thing.

This furniture by designer Doshi Levien, so neat! My favourites are this couch called My Beautiful Backside and this Principessa daybed that makes reference to Hans Christian Andersen's tale The Princess and the Pea. If only my tax return for a few whole bunch of thousands more dollars I could buy one......
